URV

The Rovira i Virgili University (URV) was created in 1991 by the Parliament of Catalonia from existing university centres. The University of Tarragona of the 16th century was thus recovered.

The university currently offers 3,240 bachelor’s degree courses, including a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering, and 57 university master’s degree courses.

In the field of semiconductors, the URV coordinates an international network for research and development of products based on porous semiconductors, with 80 researchers from more than 20 countries. The initiative is headed by the professor of electronic technology, Lluís Marsal, and its aim is to develop and transfer applications based on porous materials in the fields of health, energy and the environment.
