Nu Quantum, a company specialising in quantum networking solutions, has joined the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI) in a move that will help strengthen the Spanish semiconductor ecosystem and expand the commercialisation of quantum computing.
Nu Quantum was founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the University of Cambridge with the aim of commercialising research generated over the last decade at the Cavendish Laboratory. Since then, they have built a strong intellectual property portfolio and a multidisciplinary team to develop market-oriented quantum networking solutions.
The organisation has a growing team of over 60 people across nine technical disciplines, with research laboratories in Cambridge, UK, and an office in Los Angeles, USA.
As part of its mission, Nu Quantum is developing the Entanglement Fabric to unlock the commercial expansion of quantum computing. The Entanglement Fabric is its modular and scalable architecture for a fault-tolerant quantum computing network. Leveraging the principles of abstraction that have given rise to today’s classical cloud computing, its approach accelerates time to market and short-term business value for the industry.
AESEMI, meanwhile, was founded in 2021 and represents the leading Spanish companies engaged in microelectronic design and semiconductor manufacturing. One of its main objectives is to raise the profile of all the entities that form part of the semiconductor technology ecosystem in Spain. Thanks to this platform, which already has more than 70 members, the growth of this industry is being promoted, as well as the option for large companies to have solutions to meet their decarbonisation and digitalisation commitments, which are a common factor for all industries worldwide.
