The Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI) welcomes PulSensing as a new member of the association. With this addition, the national microelectronics and semiconductor ecosystem is strengthened with a technology-based company specialising in high-performance microelectronics for next-generation detectors.
Established as a spin-off of the Institute of Cosmos Sciences at the University of Barcelona (ICCUB), PulSensing develops advanced solutions in the design and production of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), front-end electronics and complete readout systems that expand the data acquisition and signal processing capabilities of high-precision detectors. The company stands out for its low-power, high-resolution temporal and energy technologies, geared towards demanding applications in medical imaging, space instrumentation, particle physics and radiation detection.
PulSensing is characterised by its focus on innovation and technology transfer, bringing advanced microelectronics developed through university research to market. Its high-performance ASIC technology improves image quality in systems such as positron emission tomography (PET), reduces costs and facilitates more accessible diagnostics, thereby contributing to the advancement of scientific and medical solutions.
The company contributes its expertise across the entire development chain to the semiconductor ecosystem, from detector conception and CMOS/ASIC design to system integration and high-speed data processing. This ability to offer robust, cutting-edge technologies positions PulSensing as a strategic partner for industries seeking high value-added technological solutions.
With a specialised team with more than two decades of experience in microelectronics and ASIC development for demanding applications, PulSensing also reinforces the international dimension of the Spanish technological ecosystem, offering solutions that can support both national projects and global initiatives in research sectors and advanced industrial applications.
AESEMI, meanwhile, was founded in 2021 and represents the leading Spanish companies engaged in microelectronic design and semiconductor manufacturing. One of its main objectives is to raise the profile of all the entities that form part of the semiconductor technology ecosystem in Spain. Thanks to this platform, the growth of the national industry is promoted and large companies are provided with access to solutions that contribute to global decarbonisation and digitalisation commitments, fundamental pillars for the country’s technological competitiveness.
