The University of Valencia (UV) joins the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI) in a new step to unify the ecosystem and boost its growth.
The UV is a public institution with more than five centuries of history, whose mission is to provide higher education for the academic, professional and artistic training of students, to promote basic and applied research, and to disseminate culture and science in society. With a firm commitment to excellence, the Universitat de València facilitates, stimulates and welcomes intellectual and critical activities in all fields of knowledge, maintaining a local, national and international projection.
Throughout its history, the UV has maintained a leading position within the Valencian University System and stands out in international rankings for its teaching and research quality. It is also the European university that receives more students in mobility programmes and actively participates in global scientific networks. In the field of research, the UV promotes interdisciplinary structures that address multidisciplinary fields and oriented to innovation, technology transfer and collaboration with the productive fabric.
In the field of semiconductors, the University of Valencia (UV) has been awarded more than five million euros from the PERTE Chip programme thanks to the creation of the UV-VaSiC Chair in Advanced Materials for the microchip and semiconductor industry, officially presented on 29 April 2024 during the València Silicon Forum. This project is developed in collaboration with companies from the Valencia Silicon Cluster (such as MaxLinear, Analog Devices, Bosch and ams OSRAM, among others) and is aimed at promoting applied research in advanced materials for chip manufacturing.
AESEMI represents the main Spanish companies dedicated to microelectronic design and semiconductor manufacturing. The association’s objectives include promoting the sector at national and international level, giving visibility to all the companies that form part of the Spanish semiconductor and microelectronics technology ecosystem, as well as acting as an interlocutor with the rest of the agents.
