University of Barcelona (UB)

The UB, founded in 1450, is one of Spain’s leading academic and research universities. In the field of semiconductors, the University of Barcelona is part of the FabCat initiative, which aims to play an active role in promoting Catalonia as a location for some of the semiconductor factories to be built in the European Union as a result of the Chips Act and the PERTE chip. In parallel, the UB, together with the UPC (coordinating institution), the UAB, the URV, and with the collaboration of the IMB-CNM of the CSIC, will offer a new interuniversity master’s degree in Semiconductor Engineering and Microelectronic Design, aimed at training the next generation of professional experts in this sector, which will begin in the next academic year 2024-2025.
