Founded in 1474, the University of Zaragoza is a public higher education institution that combines a tradition spanning more than five centuries of history with innovation in teaching and advanced research. More than 40,000 people form part of its university community.
The University of Zaragoza, the only public university in Aragon, has strong roots in the region and a presence in Zaragoza, Huesca, Teruel, Jaca and La Almunia de Doña Godina. Its activities extend far beyond, with a clear international focus, forming part of prestigious national and international university alliances, such as Campus Iberus and UNITA, a consortium of more than thirteen European universities, as well as other strategic alliances in Latin America and Asia.
The University of Zaragoza offers a wide range of bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, proprietary programmes and doctorates tailored to social demands, with a constant commitment to educational innovation and its connection to the labour market.
Research and knowledge transfer are part of its DNA. Its research focuses on technological, social, legal, humanistic, experimental and biomedical areas. Research activity is organised through its research institutes, which support internationally renowned research groups, as demonstrated by the ten projects funded in recent years by the prestigious European Research Council (ERC).
Its scientific and technological infrastructures are dedicated to optimising research, generating knowledge and promoting innovation. It transfers research through the training of its students, as well as disseminating advances to society and the region. In recent years, more than sixty-five companies and spin-offs have been created, and there are currently more than 150 active patents promoted by the University of Zaragoza.
