UPM Microelectronics Initiative: Shaping Spain’s Technological Future

The Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) has a long tradition in microelectronics and optoelectronics research, which began with the inauguration of the first clean room in Spain in the 1970s. Today, it hosts numerous research groups ranging from the design to the manufacture of advanced technologies, including solar cells, high-frequency devices, integrated photonics and nanoelectronics. These activities are now coordinated through the UPM Microelectronics Initiative (µe-UPM), created in 2023, which brings together more than 200 professors and researchers from the University with the aim of gaining visibility and increasing its impact on industry and society.

Within this framework, the Initiative has developed an exciting and unique training offer in the field of Microelectronics and Semiconductors, in the context of the UPM-INDRA Chair in Microelectronics. This catalog of courses seeks to provide comprehensive specialization in key areas such as microelectronics, semiconductors, photonics and related technologies, preparing students and professionals to face the challenges of the sector. The growing demand for experts in microelectronics reflects not only technological evolution, but also the need to strengthen the strategic autonomy of Spain and the European Union.

The courses combine theoretical knowledge with practical tools, enabling participants to lead the technological future of the country. A highlight of this offer is that enrollment will be completely free, thanks to the funding provided by the UPM-INDRA Chair in Microelectronics, which represents a unique opportunity to access high quality education at no cost.

The UPM invites all those interested, whether they are graduates or professionals in the sector, to enroll in this training offer.
