The Spanish subsidiary of the British company Quantum Motion joins the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI). This union is a step towards the cohesion of the Spanish semiconductor ecosystem.
Quantum Motion is a leading developer of quantum computing hardware, spun out of Oxford University and University College London, which is now establishing its R&D centre in the European Union through its presence in Spain. The company produces quantum computers using MOS semiconductor technology, the same technology that powers, for example, our laptops, mobile phones and cars.
Quantum Motion combines fifty years of industrial development of MOS technology globally, with its unique expertise in the design of cubits and architectures in the development of viable prototypes for quantum computers. In addition, Quantum Motion specialises in the design and validation of CMOS integrated circuits capable of operating at cryogenic temperatures, critical to the implementation of large-scale quantum computers.
AESEMI was founded in 2021 and represents the main Spanish companies dedicated to microelectronic design and semiconductor manufacturing. One of its objectives is to give visibility to all the entities that form part of the semiconductor technology ecosystem in Spain. Thanks to this platform, the growth of this industry and the option for large companies to have solutions to cover the commitments of decarbonisation and digitisation, which are a common factor for all industries, already at a global level, are boosted.
