Openchip joins Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association

The company, founded in Barcelona, is a specialized supplier of Systems on Chip (SoCs) based on RISC-V architecture and focused on High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence. With this incorporation, the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI) advances in its goal of cohesion and promotion of the Spanish semiconductor sector.

Openchip, with offices in Spain and Italy, has a team made up of a wide diversity of nationalities reflecting the European DNA of the project. The company will offer solutions that will accelerate research activities in scientific fields such as genomics, meteorology, protein design, astrophysics, energy, aerospace and advanced simulation, which have a high social and transformative impact. Among its objectives is to lead the development of the next generation of European chips, to positively impact the advancement of society and consolidate the European microelectronics ecosystem by driving the entire value chain of design and commercialization of high-performance accelerators.

In this context, the company has been selected by the European Commission as a Major Project of Common European Interest to support research, innovation and industrial deployment of microelectronics and communications technologies across the value chain.

AESEMI represents the main Spanish companies dedicated to microelectronic design and semiconductor manufacturing. The association’s objectives include promoting the sector nationally and internationally and giving visibility to all the companies that form part of the Spanish semiconductor and microelectronics technology ecosystem.
