With the incorporation of Alcyon Photonics, specialised in photonic circuit designs, the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI) continues with its objective of bringing together the pieces of the Spanish ecosystem.
Alcyon Photonics, which has been awarded by the European Innovation Council’s “EIC Accelerator” programme, offers robust and efficient integrated photonic circuit designs, facilitating the adoption of integrated photonics in communication and sensor devices, among others. In addition to offering validated integrated photonic circuits, it also supports the design of ad hoc solutions. In this regard, Alcyon designs photonic integrated circuits (PICs) with unprecedented bandwidth and unique polarisation management.
Alcyon has an open development environment, compatible with commercial design flow software that facilitates the ecosystem to enable the ideation of photonic solutions, easily and affordably. By integrating diverse optical components such as waveguides, modulators and detectors on a single chip, integrated photonics enables compact, high-performance solutions for applications spanning communications, sensors, medical devices, quantum computing, artificial intelligence and more.
For its part, AESEMI represents the main Spanish companies dedicated to microelectronic design and semiconductor manufacturing. Among its objectives is to give visibility to all the companies that form part of the semiconductor and microelectronics technology ecosystem in Spain and to promote it at national and international level.
